Changes to Broadcasting of Channel 9 and 10 Following Regional TV Change Overs

After Nine announced its return to WIN Television as its regional affiliate earlier this year, WIN’s Illawarra Channel 8 has recently been changed to a High Definition MPEG-4 format

With this change, some viewers may lose the ability to receive Illawarra Channel 8 as their TV may not be compatible with this new format. This issue primarily applies to those with older televisions, which do not have inbuilt MPEG4 encoders and are therefore unable to receive the HD new channel. You can think of this situation as similar to when mobile phones changed from 3G to 4G or 5G.

Additionally, as Network 10 has also recently entered into a new agreement with Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) , this week viewers across regional Australia will find free-to-air shows changing channels across both Channels 9 and 10.

From July the 1st Channel 9 channels currently broadcast on channels 5, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54 will be changed to 8, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84.

While Channel 10 Channels (WIN) currently broadcast on channels 8, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84 while be changed to 5, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54.
