TV WALL MOUNT FOR CHILD SAFETY IN GREATER HOBART

According to past records around 50 Australians a week are sent to the ER or have to receive hospital treatment for injuries caused by toppling furniture or TVs. That’s a whopping 2,600 people per year. And, sadly, since 2001 approximately 22 children under the age of 9 have died from falling furniture or TVs.

Due to spending more time at home, the prevalence of home injuries are on the rise. It is now more important than ever to ensure that you take all of the right precautions to keep your little ones safe.

Grant from Jim’s Antennas Kingborough recently wall mounted a TV for a client in Bellerive, Tasmania.

This family has an active one year old, who likes to turn the TV on and off at the powerpoint. Upon recognising the risks associated with this activity, they requested that Grant mount the TV out of his reach and completely hide the cabling.

When completing this job, Grant ran the TV cord and power cord in plastic ducting, placing them behind the couch and to the left of the TV. He then hid the remaining cabling by concealing it in the wall.

The concealment of exposed wires and cabling protects the child from common household dangers such as electric shock. Additionally, placing the TV above reach, will protect this little one from potentially toppling over the TV, and keep him out of harms way.

These precautionary measures are in line with Kidsafe‘s advice to parents which states that all furniture should be anchored to the walls, and TVs should either be wall-mounted or secured on a stand.

Children are naturally inquisitive creatures who love to explore their environment. Within the home, their safety should be of paramount importance. If you need help getting your TV up and out of the way, don’t hesitate to give us a call on131 546, or book a free onsite no obligation quote online.
