In 2019 there were over 14.7 million internet users in Australia, meaning that 88% of our population is on the web.
While the internet plays a large role in most of our lives and has paved the way for how many Australians now work and interact, it has also led to developments in antenna technology.
In recent years, with the high frequency use of 4G data across Australia, a lot of people have had issues with their digital TV reception due to the limited ability of older antennas to filter out unwanted signals .
Jake from Jim’s Antennas Padbury recently supplied and installed a brand new Hills Black Arrow digital antenna for a home in Burns Beach, Western Australia.
This antenna comes with an added LTE (Long Term Evolution), or as it’s also commonly referred to, a 4G filter. The filter blocks any 4G signal crossing bands while simultaneously allowing TV signals to pass through the antenna.
4G filters are an important addition to any antenna where there is a high demand for and usage of mobile data. This is because these filters prevent interference from mobile signals, which often cause TV reception issues such as poor reception quality due to signal overload.
The Hills Tru-Band VHF Black Arrow has been designed and manufactured in Australia as part of Hills’ Tru-Band antenna range. This range has been specifically designed for homes in and around Australian capital cities, where signal overload is a common issue.
If you’re experiencing poor TV picture, pixelation or picture break up – it’s always best to get in the experts who can diagnose your issue using their field strength meters.
If the interference is caused by 4G is often a simple fix and in some cases adding a filter to your existing system might do the trick. But homes with older antennas will likely need to upgrade to a new digital TV antenna with an inbuilt 4G filter.
