ANTENNA CORROSION IN NSW’S CENTRAL COAST

In many parts of the Central Coast, corrosion poses major issues to the maintenance of antennas. Our dreamy coastline locations are beautiful, but if you’re living by the seaside it’s important not to become complacent when it comes to preventative maintenance around the home.

Rod from Jim’s Antennas Wyong recently completed a job for a couple living in Tuggerah – who were wondering why they no longer were receiving their usually full range of channels and experiencing poor image quality.

As soon as Rod arrived on the scene, the issue with their antenna system stuck out like a sore thumb. The salty sea-side air and wind had not only corroded antenna elements, but also connections between components of the system.

Luckily, Jim’s Antennas offers and can install a range of suitable products for a coastal home. From aluminium to stainless steel and hot dipped galvanised products – we’ve got you covered.

Both aluminium and stainless steel are known for their resistance to corrosion in environments where other metals commonly used in antennas (e.g. iron) would deteriorate. On the other hand, an antenna that is hot-dipped galvanised has been immersed in a bath of molten zinc in order to make it corrosion resistant.

After installing a new stainless steel antenna for the couple, they can now finally sit back, relax and enjoy their television.

If you’re living along the coast don’t wait for the corrosion to take over! Give us a call on 131 546 or book a free onsite no obligation quote online, to find out what antenna system would best suit your home.
