On the picturesque South Coast of the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia, the Jims Antennas & Security team faced a rewarding but challenging task. The goal? Replacing an aging 3G Yagi antenna with a modern 4G/5G Yagi antenna mounted on a towering 9-meter mast at Deep Creek.

The Challenge

This upgrade wasn’t just a simple swap. The mast was stabilized by three sets of guide wires, each needing careful adjustment to lower the mast safely. Technicians David and Dan worked meticulously to:

Release the guide wires: Ensuring the mast could be lowered without damage or risk to the structure.
Replace the antenna: Removing the outdated 3G Yagi and securely installing the advanced 4G/5G Yagi antenna.
Erect and stabilize the mast: Re-raising the mast and retensioning the guide wires for optimal support and safety.

Their expertise and precision were crucial, given the height of the mast and the tricky conditions of the rooftop installation

Why the Upgrade Was Necessary?

As of October 28, 2024, Telstra has ceased transmitting 3G signals across Australia. While some areas may still transition, relying on a 3G Yagi antenna is no longer viable. Devices and antennas that aren’t upgraded to 4G/5G compatibility will no longer receive mobile signals, leading to potential disruptions in communication.

If you are not satisfied with the job, we will inspect it and have any problems fixed. If we believe the job is good and you do not, we will jointly agree on an independent expert to provide a report at our expense, and fix any problems found. Until this is done, you need not pay for the job. If problems are not fixed within a fortnight, any advance will be refunded.

Only if no problems are found by the expert, will you be asked to pay the agreed price for the job and half the cost of the report.

If the job is done to get your bond back on leaving a rental property, the job is only considered good when the agent or landlord is satisfied.

If payment is made in advance and the job not done, the payment will be refunded.
