How to Mount a TV to Brick Wall

Mounting your TV on a brick wall is a challenging task, which requires further preparation, time, knowledge and tools compared to mounting on a stock standard gyprock wall. Without proper expertise, novice installers run the risk of crumbling bricks and accidentally installing an un-level TV or loose bracket. Professional installation is therefore always recommended, especially when mounting on brick walls which present a more complicated installation scenario.

The following video and written guide outline the steps that Jim’s Antennas technicians take to ensure safe and secure TV wall-mounting when working with brick walls.

Below we’ve also included a written outline to guide you through the wall-mounting process covered in our video.

1. Choose a location for your TV (Mount)

Once you have found the right spot, mark it in using tape or light pencil markings

2. Add backing plates to the TV

from there we get our measurement for where the actual wall plate is going to be mounted onto the wall

3. Find your Measurements

Time to get your measurements on the wall – take the wall plate out, put it on the wall, put your level on (use a laser level to make sure that the position of your bracket will be level), mark it up and then it’s time to drill your holes into the wall.

4. Fit bracket onto the wall

5. Mount the TV to the wall

6. Run cables

For most brick walls cabling cannot be run internally. Instead, conduit instead used to conceal cabling, making the job look nice and neat.
