A WiFi Access Point is a device that is hardwired back to your modem, to create a wireless local area network (WLAN). This then projects a WiFi signal through the area that the device is installed in. Unlike WiFi boosters, access points allow the user to get full use of their signal.
These devices are generally used to cover low signal or dead spots throughout the home or office (extending WiFi coverage) or can also be used to increase the number of users that can connect to the internet.
Compared to Access Points (APs) made by brands such as Ubiquiti UniFi or TP link, the Reyee series are better suited to commercial installation. These APs have been designed for villages, parks, villas, scenic spots and plazas and have an outstanding signal coverage of up to 300 meters. The Reyee is also a simultaneous dual-band router, meaning it is capable of transmitting and receiving both 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals at same time. By supporting MIMO technology, each AP is able to provide 300Mbps at 2.4GHz, 867Mbps at 5GHz. In total this is up to 1167Mbps.
To improve the warehouse’s internet signal and strength, Colin set-up a core signal from a 4G router fed by a Blackhawk Xpol MiMo antenna. The signal from the router was then picked up by the outdoor access points.
By the time Colin had finished the install, the router gave a 180Mbps download speed. This speed was recorded as far as 60 metres in 2 directions via the Reyee access points!
However, not only did installing a new WiFi set-up improve the business’ WiFi strength and speed – but it also helped improve their security. This is as the Blackhawk Xpol MiMo Antenna delivered extremely fast internet speeds via the access points to the business’ WiFi cameras. Fast and stable internet is important for any IP camera system. A higher bitrate will also give you better resolution and more fluid footage.
After setting up the system, Colin showed his customers how to use the Ruijie Cloud App. This app can be used to monitor the access points and to ensure they are working at all times. With the touch of a button, reboots and updates can be remotely scheduled or performed instantly.
