When you are on the road, getting a good TV signal and reception can be challenging.
At any time your caravan maybe receiving multiple signals from competing nearby transmission towers and knowing which signal is the strongest to tune your TV into can be challenging.
As you travel throughout the country, the transmission towers from which you are receiving these signals from will also inevitably change and were not just talking to the location of your closest tower. The transmission type can also change between UHF (ultra high frequency) and VHF (very high frequency) which means even if you have a combination antenna with a masthead amplifier or “booster” installed, unless you know what frequency you are receiving your signal from and have the booster boosting the correct signal you will be encountering issues.
Constantly changing and competing signals often makes choosing an appropriate antenna system difficult for the average traveller. If aerial equipment is chosen incorrectly, this can also be a secondary cause of reception issues.
When it comes to caravanning throughout Australia, satellite systems are generally preferred as they can offer access to both Free To Air and paid TV. They also support better FTA signal reception, especially in rural and remote areas. This is facilitated through the Viewer Access Satellite Television service (VAST), which provides digital television and radio service to remote and black spot areas (where antennas are unable to receive reception).
Grant from Jim’s Antennas Jim’s Antennas Kingborough recently installed a Satking Promax Automatic Satellite Dish, to allow his customer to access the VAST system when travelling through regional areas.
Not only is this new piece of equipment effective, but it is also extremely user-friendly. All you have to do is get the system going before pressing “okay”. The satellite dish will then automatically raise up and start searching for the best satellite, once found, it will lock onto it and fine tune the signal.
As easy as that, Grant’s customer will now have free-to-air TV wherever they happen to go!
