Did you know that soundbars have been around for almost 20 years?
The first soundbar was produced in 1998. It was a powered speaker system that offered Stereo, Dolby Pro-Logic and AC3 surround sound from the Soundbar and a separate subwoofer. The Soundbar housed four 3″ full range drivers and two 1″ tweeters while the subwoofer housed one 8” dual voice coil driver. The Voice Of The Digital Theatre as it was called used Altec Lansing’s side-firing technology and algorithms to provide surround sound from the sides, rear and front. This configuration eliminated the wiring of separate speakers and the space they would require.
In this day and age sound bars have come a long way but have also kept to this simple philosophy to eliminate the need to have multiple wired speakers. So if you have a small space but are after a superior sound than what your TV can produce then give Jim’s Antennas Montrose a call on 131456 to discuss your soundbar options and installations.
