Matt from Jim’s Antennas Moana is still actively responding to damage caused to antennas after the strong winds and storms wreaked havoc throughout Adelaide in early February.
Here we have Matt at a home in Hackham West that had the antenna mounted to the fascia of the roof in what is known as a ‘hockey stick’ mount. As you can see, this style of mount does not provide sufficient stability for the antenna in heavy winds. Matt removed the antenna that was hanging by a bolt and had become damaged beyond repair. This antenna was replaced with a new Hills antenna and mounted using a heavy duty tripod mount that provides three anchor points for increased stability during periods of high winds. The fascia of the home was also damaged and will need replacement.
